Overview

In this role you support a busy Birmingham Real Estate team within a European law firm, focusing on transactional real estate across development, investment and landlord-tenant work. You will work closely with partners and clients to progress acquisitions, disposals, development sites and financing, while developing expertise and client relationships. The role offers exposure to cross-office collaboration, business development and ongoing professional growth within a market-facing environment. You will help shape outcomes for developers, investors and occupiers at scale.

Responsibilities

• Assist on acquisitions and disposals of freehold/leasehold real estate assets including development sites and investment properties
• Support commercial and residential development transactions (site acquisitions/disposals, development agreements, options, overage, easements)
• Advise on landlord and tenant and asset management matters (leases, licences, assignments, renewals, rent reviews) for corporate occupiers
• Assist on investment, portfolio and real estate finance transactions (title due diligence, reporting, certificates of title)
• Take responsibility for matters or parts of larger transactions with client contact and stakeholder liaison
• Draft legal documents including title reviews and reporting
• Conduct legal research on case summaries and internal know-how
• Assist business development (articles, client briefings, events, social posts)
• Ensure accurate time recording and diary management
• Liaise professionally with clients, counsel and external advisers

Key requirements

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 1-2 years PQE in transactional real estate
• Experience in commercial and residential development work; exposure to other transactional real estate areas
• Hands-on transactional experience with matter management and clear client communication
• Sound knowledge of English land law and landlord and tenant law, with willingness to broaden knowledge across the team’s work
• Experience drafting and negotiating transactional real estate documents, conducting title due diligence and producing commercial reports
• Strong interpersonal, drafting, organisational and time-management skills with attention to detail
