About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you may support pupils with a range of needs, including:
- Autism and ADHD
- Communication and interaction needs
- Social, emotional and mental health needs
- Moderate learning difficulties
- Complex and additional needs
- Speech, language and communication needs
- Challenging behaviour
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND
- Help pupils access the curriculum and classroom activities
- Support communication, social and emotional development
- Follow individual learning and behaviour support strategies
- Encourage confidence, independence and positive behaviour
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and resources
- Work closely with teachers and wider support teams
- Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 6 months’ relevant UK experience working with children, young people or within an education/support setting
- Previous SEN TA, Teaching Assistant, LSA or similar experience
- SEND experience is highly desirable
- Experience supporting Autism, ADHD or complex needs is advantageous
- Patient, compassionate and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable, but not essential
