Software/Controls Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design, modify and optimize PLC programs and robot control systems for diverse manufacturing applications. You will work both in-house and on customer sites, troubleshooting live systems and commissioning equipment. You’ll collaborate with electrical, mechanical and production teams to deliver reliable automated solutions. This opportunity places you at the forefront of industrial automation, shaping how we scale and support manufacturing systems. You will engage with leading PLC platforms and robotics to drive impactful projects across UK facilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify and optimise PLC programs for multiple platforms
• Commission and commission on-site automated machinery and robotics
• Troubleshoot live systems and diagnose faults in production lines
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical and production teams across customer sites
• Read electrical schematics and represent technically on-site
• Support SCADA/HMI development and integration where applicable

Key requirements

• Proven PLC programming experience across multiple platforms
• Solid electrical engineering foundation (degree, HND, or equivalent)
• Ability to read electrical schematics and work independently on complex systems
• Comfortable on customer sites and professional in client-facing situations
• Bonus: SCADA/HMI development experience, industrial networking protocols, safety PLCs, or FMCG/manufacturing background
