Lead Quality Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead the quality function within an expanding aerospace manufacturer, driving Quality Assurance and continuous improvement across production. You will collaborate with Operations, Supplier Quality and Project Quality to ensure on-time, high-quality parts for major clients. You will shape quality processes as the business moves into larger premises with new equipment. This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong emphasis on root-cause analysis, audits and coaching the quality team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and organize the production-focused Quality team
• Serve as the main contact for in-production quality issues
• Monitor and report key quality metrics and drive CAPA using root cause analysis
• Ensure drawings, specifications and customer requirements are followed and audited
• Lead problem solving and RCA to close non-conformances
• Collaborate with Operations, Supplier Quality and Project Quality to keep production on schedule and within quality/cost targets
• Support internal and external audits and maintain EN9100 / AS9100 and other approvals
• Coach and develop team members and wider operations staff in quality practices

Key requirements

• Proven track record in a senior quality role within complex/precision engineering environments
• Experience leading and mentoring Quality Engineers, Technicians & Inspectors
• Strong problem-solving skills and experience with RCA and CA tools
• Experience with PFMEA, PPAP/APQP, Control Plans, First Article Inspection
• AS/EN9100 quality management systems maintenance and auditing
• Confident communicator capable of setting expectations and delegating
