Python Lead Software Engineer

Overview

As Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase, you will drive secure, scalable software solutions within the IP – Network Services group. You’ll contribute technically across multiple areas, leading design, development, and troubleshooting to support the firm’s objectives. You’ll promote AI-assisted engineering practices to improve quality, speed, and reliability, while coaching teams on safe, compliant adoption. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to deliver trusted market-leading technology. This role offers impact across architecture, automation, and cloud-enabled networks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions with innovative approaches
• Develop secure production code and perform code reviews
• Adopt enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices to improve quality and delivery
• Establish validation standards for secure coding, testing, and reuse of patterns
• Identify opportunities to automate recurring issues to improve stability
• Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors and internal teams on architecture
• Lead communities of practice to promote new technologies
• Foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect

Key requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering; proficient in Python
• Hands-on experience in system design, app development, testing, and operations
• Advanced in one or more programming languages
• Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery
• Proficiency in all SDLC aspects
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies including CI/CD, resiliency, and security
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools and validating their outputs
• Strong knowledge of cloud computing and security practices
• Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS)
