Regional Environmental Engineer, AWS Data Centers

Overview

In this role you will support AWS London region’s site development and environmental compliance. You will partner with engineering, construction, and operations teams to embed regulatory requirements and environmental programs. You’ll analyze performance, report metrics, and guide teams on implementing AWS environmental procedures. You’ll manage permitting, regulatory communications, and environmental audits to ensure safe, compliant operations. Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with local and national environmental regulations, contractual obligations, and Amazon policy; represent Amazon with governmental agencies.
• Drive regional environmental programs by collaborating with engineering, construction, and operations teams to foster an environmentally responsible culture and maintain management processes.
• Ensure contractors, consultants, and employees comply with Amazon standards and environmental regulations.
• Develop, analyze, and present environmental metrics to monitor performance and identify risks; communicate insights to stakeholders.
• Submit time-critical environmental reports to governmental agencies.
• Conduct environmental audits and investigations, implement CAPA with operations and stakeholders.
• Contribute to/lead environmental permitting processes, including preparation, submittal, and negotiation with authorities.

Key requirements

• Experience in a fast paced, dynamic organization
• Experience in environmental compliance and permitting, waste management, contractual, regulatory, and liability assessments, environmental permit evaluations and applications, EIAs and water discharge requirements
• Bachelors degree in environmental science, chemical or environmental engineering, or related field with 7+ years serving as an environmental technical resource, compliance specialist, or program manager
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities with experience in environmental reporting, documentation, environmental investigations and developing corrective actions
• Ability to work under pressure, handle regulatory deadlines, with strong organizational and time management skills
• Strong communication skills (English) with the ability to collaborate with various departments, external stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies
