Maintenance Technician

• Annual Salary: £36,000 – £40,000 (depending on experience) + Overtime and additional call-out fees
• Location: Hatfield
• Job Type: Days – Monday to Friday

Join our team as a Maintenance Technician / Handy Man, where you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining equipment and machinery at our main bakery site and various shops across Hertfordshire. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in electrical/mechanical maintenance on catering equipment, looking to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our facilities.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Assist with the maintenance of equipment and machinery to ensure high standards of general servicing and maintenance, both planned and reactive.
• Conduct routine weekly maintenance inspections across 44 shop sites.
• Perform scheduled servicing of machinery to prevent disruptions in operations.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Assist with shop refurbishments and improvements, including tasks like high-level cleaning, painting, and tiling.
• Participate in a weekend call-out rota (approximately 1 in every 4 weekends), with additional remuneration for call-out duties.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven maintenance background in electrical and mechanical fields.
• Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, unsupervised and in a trustworthy manner.
• Sound knowledge of health & safety regulations.
• Excellent record-keeping skills with the ability to maintain a schedule of programmed maintenance requirements.
• Full driving licence is essential as the role involves travelling across the county (a work van is supplied for use during business hours).
