FURNITURE INSTALLATION & REMOVALS SPECIALIST

About the role
DS Movers is a well-established, locally owned transport, storage and removals company based in Belfast. We provide domestic removals, commercial relocations, specialist moving services and longer-term project work across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
We are looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking Furniture Installation & Removals Specialist to join our team.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining furniture installation, removals, commercial relocations, driving and specialist moving work.
You could be working at offices, universities, public-sector buildings, private homes and other customer sites. Some projects may involve working at the same location for several weeks.
Current and upcoming work includes IT and office relocations in Dublin and departmental moves under our ongoing framework contracts.
Your Responsibilities
- Drive company vehicles safely, including operating tail lifts and securing loads
- Carry out domestic removals, commercial relocations and specialist moves
- Load, transport and safely handle furniture, IT equipment and other items
- Dismantle, relocate, assemble and install office furniture and workstations
- Use moving equipment and basic hand/power tools safely
- Protect customer property and premises throughout each move
- Work professionally with customers, colleagues and other contractors
- Follow all health & safety, security and site procedures
- Complete job records and use company systems to record work and obtain customer sign-off
What we’re looking for
Essential
- Full, valid driving licence and confidence driving commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes
- Experience operating tail lifts and loading and securing goods correctly
- Practical experience using moving equipment, ratchet straps and basic hand or power tools
- Ability to undertake regular manual handling and safely move heavy, awkward or high-value items
- Flexibility to undertake overtime, extended project work, travel and occasional overnight stays
- Willingness to complete an AccessNI check
Desirable
- Previous experience in furniture removals, domestic moves or commercial relocations
- Experience working on office, IT or multi-week relocation projects
- Experience dismantling, assembling or installing office furniture
- Experience moving specialist, fragile, heavy or high-value items
- Furniture installation or practical tool experience
- Recent Manual Handling Certificate
- Valid CSR Card
- Strong customer service experience
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
Previous specialist-moving experience is advantageous, but training can be provided for the right candidate who has a strong work ethic, is willing to learn and meets the essential requirements.
