Overview
In this role you will underwrite delegated US property business, aiming to maximize profitability while upholding the company’s reputation and regulatory obligations. You will work closely with the delegated property team, coverholders, and brokers to manage binders, renewals, and risk controls within the underwriting plan. The position sits at the intersection of risk selection, client relationships, and market knowledge, with a focus on property exposures and Lloyd’s market rules. You’ll be part of a collaborative team shaping specialty insurance outcomes in a dynamic market.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite new and renewal US property binders and risks within the underwriting plan and authority limits
- Manage property binders including performance monitoring, referrals, bordereaux, rate movements, and audits
- Service binder contracts and amend in line with syndicate philosophy
- Enter risk information into S2000 and ensure KYC/compliance
- Develop and maintain relationships with coverholders, brokers, and internal teams (claims, actuarial, compliance, finance)
- Engage with Lloyd’s and market peers to stay informed on market developments
- Review slips, endorsements, rate structures, and policy documentation to keep accounts within plan
- Monitor monthly written premium and country aggregates for acceptances
Key requirements
- ACII; relevant degree or equivalent experience
- Advanced knowledge of US Commercial Property, U.S. Homeowners and High Value Home lines
- FCA/PRA and Lloyd’s rules and contract certainty
- Lloyd’s market experience and underwriting principles
- Legal principles and company procedures related to the role
