Looking for an exciting opportunity to develop your careerin Planning? Stoke-on-Trent City Council is seeking an enthusiastic andmotivated Assistant Planning Officer to join our Development Management Team.

As an Assistant Planning Officer, you will play a key rolein assessing planning applications, undertaking site visits, preparing reports andproviding advice to customers, applicants and elected Members. You will managea varied caseload of householder and minor applications and contribute toshaping sustainable development across the city.

The successful candidate will have a sound understanding ofplanning principles, good communication skills and the ability to workeffectively in a busy and rewarding environment. Experience within a planningor development management setting would be advantageous. This is an excellentopportunity to join a supportive team and contribute to the delivery ofhigh-quality planning services that make a real difference to localcommunities.

Assessand determine householder and minor planning applications in accordance withplanning legislation and policy

Undertakesite visits and liaise with applicants, consultees and other stakeholders

Prepareclear and accurate reports and recommendations to support decision making

Provideprofessional planning advice and guidance to customers, colleagues and electedMembers

Managean allocated caseload effectively to meet statutory timescales and servicestandards

AboutYou:

Relevantplanning qualification or working towards or equivalent experience in aplanning related environment

Soundunderstanding of UK planning system and development management processes

Ableto interpret planning policies and guidance and apply them to planning proposals

Strongorganisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
