Performance / Commercial Analyst

Overview

In this role you will transform financial and operational data into actionable insights that boost profitability and service efficiency. You will bridge finance with operations and business units to support strategic decisions. You’ll build reports, dashboards, and do cost-benefit analyses to optimise delivery and guide investments. You’ll partner across functions to translate data into clear recommendations and drive continuous improvement. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role with a clear impact on performance and decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance against budgets and forecasts
• Identify variances, trends, and drivers across service lines, units, and regions
• Monitor key financial metrics and operational KPIs
• Analyse operational data (delivery efficiency, utilisation, productivity, quality, customer satisfaction)
• Identify bottlenecks and opportunities for process improvements
• Conduct cost-benefit analyses for initiatives and improvement projects
• Create dashboards/scorecards for stakeholders and track KPIs
• Support business case development for new services, contracts, and investments
• Provide analytical support during contract negotiations and pricing reviews
• Maintain and enhance reporting systems and data visualisation tools
• Ensure data accuracy across multiple sources and automate routine reporting
• Develop ad-hoc analyses in response to management requests
• Recommend improvements to financial and operational performance measurement

Key requirements

• 3-5 years in financial analysis, management accounting, business analysis, or commercial finance in a service organisation
• Demonstrated track record of delivering impactful insights
• Experience with large datasets and reporting systems
• Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, complex formulas, data modelling)
• Experience with BI/visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau)
• SQL or database query skills (desirable)
• Understanding of financial statements and cost analysis
• Statistical analysis and forecasting techniques
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of presenting complex data
• Commercial acumen and ability to influence business decisions
