Senior Local Government Pension Scheme Officer

Overview

Shape the Isle of Wight Pension Fund as its first statutory Senior LGPS Officer. You will provide strategic advice to the Pension Fund Committee and Local Pension Board, overseeing governance, administration and the fund’s funding, risk and investment approach. Lead responses to national pension reforms and help steer the Fund through regulatory changes. Work in a small, collaborative team with visible impact and the opportunity to influence strategy and service delivery. This role combines leadership, technical pension expertise and cross‑functional partnership to deliver strong outcomes for members and employers.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Pension Fund and advise the Fund Committee and Local Pension Board
• Oversee governance and administration of the Fund
• Direct the Fund’s funding, investments, risk and compliance approach
• Lead responses to national pension reforms and evolving pension agenda
• Influence strategy and drive change within a smaller LGPS fund
• Develop and mentor a team to improve resilience and performance

Key requirements

• Strong LGPS knowledge and technical expertise
• Experience in governance, funding, administration or investment oversight
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
