General Practitioner – HMP Peterborough

Overview

In this role you provide trauma‑informed primary care within a multidisciplinary team at HMP Peterborough, addressing physical health, mental health and substance misuse. You will work to deliver integrated care for a complex, often underserved population in a secure setting. You’ll contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement and teach/mentor colleagues as part of a learning culture. This is an opportunity to shape care delivery across disciplines and support vulnerable patients in a challenging environment.

Responsibilities

• Deliver primary care across acute, chronic disease, mental health and substance misuse
• Undertake reception screening and urgent care
• Lead clinically within multidisciplinary teams
• Participate in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement
• Support teaching and supervision

Key requirements

• GMC General Practitioner Register and NHS Performers List
• RCGP Part 1 Substance Misuse Certificate
• Experience with vulnerable populations and substance misuse
• Experience of multi-professional teamwork
• Familiarity with clinical governance and quality improvement tools
• Ability to work flexibly and lead within a leadership structure
• Trauma-informed approach and strong communication skills
