Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead mechanical design activities within a building services team in Chelmsford. You will work on large, award‑winning projects across commercial and residential sectors and engage directly with clients and design teams. You’ll coordinate with junior engineers and other services to ensure integrated, high‑quality designs. The opportunity supports team growth and offers a path to promotion as the department expands.

Responsibilities

• Serve as mechanical design lead for building services projects
• Attend and contribute to design team meetings with clients and multi‑disciplinary teams
• Coordinate with junior engineers and other services for integrated designs
• Interface with clients to capture requirements and feedback
• Support delivery of large scale projects across commercial and residential sectors
• Support project bids and technical reviews as part of the design process

Key requirements

• At least 6 years’ experience in mechanical building services design engineering
• Experience in client facing roles and attending design team meetings
• Experience coordinating with junior engineers or other services
• Experience on projects in commercial and residential sectors
• HND with Membership with CIBSE or IMechE
