Principal Quality Assurance Engineer

Overview

In this role you will provide independent quality assurance across UK Manufacturing projects, guiding quality practices and improvements. You will support manufacturing excellence, manage non-conformances (SAP) and defect data analyses to drive root-cause investigations and corrective actions. You’ll collaborate with MBDA sites to ensure compliant, effective processes and deliver quality reporting to management. This is a hands-on, cross-site role with a focus on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent visibility and assurance that manufacturing and related processes are applied across all projects
• Advise on all aspects of quality within UK Manufacturing and support business excellence
• Manage SAP non-conformances and analyze defect data to drive root-cause investigations and corrective actions
• Develop and deliver quality awareness training and support quality improvement initiatives
• Support programmes to achieve cost, time and quality targets across Manufacturing UK
• Audits and independent assessments to ensure processes and quality requirements are implemented and improved
• Produce management reports on audit outcomes and issue closure progression
• Maintain strong links with MBDA QA colleagues to disseminate Quality Objectives across the group

Key requirements

• Minimum HNC/HND in relevant subject (ideal)
• Quality professional with experience in process-based integrated management systems and business improvement
• Experience with risk management and problem-solving tools (8D, 5Y, PFMEA)
• Good working knowledge of MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
• Quality auditing experience
• Knowledge of EN9100/AS9100, AS9102, AS9145, AS9146 (or similar)
• Excellent interpersonal, planning and organizing skills
• Ability to identify and implement sustainable business improvements
• Customer requirements awareness and ability to influence at all levels
• Self-motivated with persistence to deliver results and handle obstacles
• Understanding of regulatory and certification requirements
• Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally
