Overview

In this role, you will lead Faculty’s AI safety research program, focusing on large language models and safety-critical systems. You’ll guide a small, high-agency team, drive external publications, and align research with the company’s ambition to build trustworthy AI. You’ll tackle high-impact safety challenges and shape the field through strategic, publications-driven work. This is a chance to influence safety directions at the intersection of research and real-world deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the AI safety research agenda and set priorities aligned with long-term goals
  • Oversee cutting-edge safety research for LLMs and safety-critical systems
  • Publish high-impact findings in top conferences/journals
  • Shape the research plan by balancing scientific and practical priorities
  • Build, manage, and mentor a growing research team
  • Collaborate on evaluations and red-teaming in high-risk domains (CBRN, cybersecurity)
  • Position Faculty as a thought leader through research and stakeholder engagement

Key requirements

  • Proven track record of high-impact AI research with top-tier publications or equivalent
  • Deep domain knowledge in language models and AI safety
  • Strong research judgment and experience in AI safety with novel directions
  • Ability to oversee complex technical projects; advanced programming skills (Python, data science stack)
  • People leadership and development mindset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences
