Fire Safety Manager

Overview

In this senior role, you lead the organisation’s fire safety strategy across a large property portfolio. You will provide technical leadership, manage a specialist team, and drive compliance with fire safety laws and best practices. You collaborate with senior leaders and external partners to identify risks and embed fire safety across projects and management. You play a pivotal part in shaping policies and reporting to governance groups, delivering training and guidance. Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Fire Risk Assessment programme and ensure completion of actions
• Provide technical advice on fire safety legislation, regulations and best practice
• Ensure statutory inspections and fire safety checks are completed timely
• Oversee fire safety audits, incident investigations and statutory reporting
• Develop and review fire safety policies, procedures, and guidance
• Produce management information and reports for senior leadership
• Deliver fire safety training and briefings to colleagues
• Collaborate with Asset Management, Development and Repairs to embed fire safety in projects
• Manage relationships with contractors, regulators and external stakeholders
• Lead and develop a small team of Fire Safety professionals
• Deputise for the Head of Building Safety when required

Key requirements

• Significant experience in fire safety, ideally within social housing
• Strong knowledge of current fire safety legislation, guidance and standards
• Experience overseeing Fire Risk Assessment programmes and action management
• Experience managing or developing a specialist team
• Experience managing external consultants and contractors
• Strong analytical, reporting and IT skills including Excel and compliance databases
• Excellent communication and ability to present to senior stakeholders
• Fire Safety qualification such as NEBOSH Fire or Fire Safety Diploma or equivalent
• Membership of professional body such as IFE or IFSM desirable
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
