Fire Safety Engineer

Overview

In this role you help prepare Hinkley Point C for safe, compliant operation within EDF’s commissioning and operations program. You will establish fire safety governance and readiness, collaborating with engineering, operations, and regulators. You will lead fire risk assessments, fire hazard analyses, and contribute to emergency planning and WANO readiness. You will shape fire protection arrangements and documentation that support long-term compliance and safe operation.

Responsibilities

• Develop fire safety governance and operational readiness strategies for the station
• Lead Fire Risk Assessments and Fire Hazard Analyses with input from project stakeholders
• Support fire prevention, safety programmes, and protection arrangements
• Provide specialist advice on fire legislation, regulatory compliance, and fire protection systems
• Contribute to emergency preparedness, response planning, and WANO readiness activities

Key requirements

• Experience in fire management and design within complex industrial, nuclear, or high-hazard environments
• Ability to develop fire safety management arrangements and governance
• Familiarity with UK fire safety legislation (Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order) and related regulations
• Experience with WANO reviews and operational readiness activities
• Conducting Fire Risk Assessments and Fire Hazard Analyses
• Stakeholder collaboration to implement fire prevention and protection programmes
• Producing fire safety documentation to support readiness and compliance
• Security Vetting eligibility (UK residency for past 3 of last 5 years)
