Contract Senior Java Engineer- Outside IR35

Overview

Senior Java Engineer to join a high-profile systematic trading hedge fund. You will work on a large distributed Java-based system that ingests real-time data into a portfolio management platform, helping to build a new risk engine. You will bridge software engineering with financial domain know-how, focusing on latency, scale, and robustness. This hybrid role offers a chance to shape a data platform from scratch and work with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful trading infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support a large distributed Java system
• Automate real-time data flows into the portfolio management platform
• Contribute to the design and expansion of a data platform from scratch
• Work on building a new risk engine for systematic fund clients
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to improve performance and reliability

Key requirements

• 15+ years commercial development experience
• Strong low-level Java experience
• 2:1 Computer Science degree
• Strong Database skills
• AWS experience
• Code generation
• Java 8+
• Object oriented programming, threading, concurrency, distributed systems
• Experience with EC2, DevOps, Linux, CloudWatch

• Fast learner in financial domain
• Strong problem-solving with latency awareness
