Software Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design, develop and test complex C++ software for advanced maritime and defence systems. You will work in a growing engineering team, contributing across the full software lifecycle from requirements to integration and testing. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust back-end, front-end and sensor integration solutions in an Agile environment. The opportunity combines hands-on development with challenging system-level problems in a security-cleared setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software solutions using C++
• Design back-end systems, communication layers and client-server applications
• Develop front-end GUIs
• Integrate software with external systems and sensors
• Perform unit and simulation-based testing
• Work within an Agile/SCRUM environment

Key requirements

• Strong C++ development experience
• Object-oriented programming and software design experience
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms and design patterns
• Experience with debugging and fault finding
• Understanding of networking and data serialization
• Database and front-end development experience
• Eligibility for UK Security Clearance
• Experience with Qt, QML, DDS, PostgreSQL, STL, XML or sensor integration would be highly beneficial
