Analyst / Senior Analyst – Oil Research

Overview

In this role you will develop and maintain Python-based models for crude oil and refined product balances and price forecasts, while producing timely research and client-facing materials. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team in the EMEA region to deliver data-driven insights and dashboards that support trading, risk, and client decisions. You will build models, gather data, and present findings to clients, helping to shape market understanding and new methodologies. This is a hands-on role at a market-leading research team, offering opportunities to impact products, services, and client outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python-based supply and demand models for crude and refined products
• Collect, manipulate and analyze data to support quantitative and qualitative research
• Publish weekly and ad-hoc reports with timely market insights
• Create PowerBI dashboards and PowerPoint presentations to distribute outputs
• Engage with a network of oil market stakeholders to source insights
• Improve core analytical processes and methodologies
• Support business development with client presentations and research capabilities
• Collaborate with senior analysts to build client relationships in the EMEA energy market

Key requirements

• 3–5 years in the physical oil markets or a research house
• Proficiency in Python for data modeling with large datasets
• Experience with Power BI or Tableau and advanced MS Office skills
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques is desirable
• Strong ability to conduct primary research and communicate insights clearly
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
