Band 7 – Water Safety Manager, Environment

Overview

In this role you drive water quality and safety compliance across all Trust sites, aligning with clinical and operational leads to meet regulatory standards. You lead on water hygiene and act as the professional advisor on water-related operations, reporting to senior management and supporting audit accreditations. The role involves delivering complex compliance programmes, managing contractor activities, and representing the Environment Division in governance forums. You will work across sites, including out-of-hours, to ensure robust action plans where gaps are found and to uphold patient safety and regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of compliance processes and systems across all sites with operational and clinical leads
• Identify water safety, SAP/AP, quality or hygiene risks and escalate to senior management
• Provide robust management reports with exception-based deficiencies within regulations
• Prepare board briefings and reports detailing legislative requirements
• Design, update policies, standards, SOPs, written schemes and management plans for water quality
• Manage contractors and sub-contractors for planned maintenance, remedial or capital works
• Participate in Estates out-of-hours on-call rota
• Travel between Trust sites and work across normal and out-of-hours periods
• Undertake other duties as required by Estates Operations Manager or senior managers

Key requirements

• Engineering Masters Degree or HND/HNC or equivalent
• Post CPD
• Desirable RP appointment for Water Hygiene/Safety; SAP or AP experience
• Detailed knowledge of HTM 04-01 and water-related statutory instruments, ACOPs and SOPs
• IT literacy; healthcare environment experience
• Experience in a senior Water Hygiene role within a healthcare setting
• Policy development, written schemes or safety plans production
