Overview

As Lead Full Stack Kotlin Developer at Hippo, you guide and deliver Kotlin-based solutions for a diverse client base. You act as a technical SME within cross-functional squads, shaping architecture and mentoring engineers. You’ll lead delivery, design pipelines, and communicate progress to stakeholders, while driving secure, scalable systems. This role blends hands-on development with strategic leadership to advance Hippo’s mission of human-centered digital transformation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical SME in squads to ensure user-centered software aligned with business requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to design and deliver complex client solutions
• Prioritize and manage the delivery team’s workload
• Design and manage software development and deployment pipelines, resolving bottlenecks
• Present prototypes, solutions, and progress clearly to internal and external stakeholders
• Lead recruitment and onboarding of engineers and mentor their development

Key requirements

• Extensive Kotlin experience across the full development lifecycle with JVM foundation
• Proven track record leading a delivery team to build robust, scalable solutions
• Expertise in Kotlin with Spring Boot and Spring Framework (MVC, Security, REST)
• Experience in microservices design and RESTful APIs using Kotlin
• Public cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) and DevOps practices including containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Infrastructure as Code tools (CloudFormation or Terraform)
• CI/CD tooling experience (Jenkins or Azure DevOps)
• Front-end experience (Angular, React, TypeScript)
