Senior Software Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design, develop and integrate real-time embedded software for high-tech sub-systems used on military platforms. You’ll work within a software team across the full development lifecycle to deliver robust, testable embedded solutions. You’ll collaborate on diverse programmes and address hardware/software integration challenges on target hardware. This role supports critical airspace surveillance and defence applications, offering scope to influence mission-critical systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop real-time embedded software solutions
• Integrate and debug on target hardware and resolve HW/SW issues
• Target multiple RT platforms (VxWorks, MicroC/OS, Linux, FreeRTOS) using C/C++
• Participate in software lifecycle methodologies
• Manage software requirements and traceability using industry best practices
• Plan and execute Unit, Integration and System tests
• Develop reusable software components
• Document software production processes per company standards

Key requirements

• Knowledge of embedded real-time development and hardware/software interface
• Understanding of RTOS behavior and software requirements analysis
• Proficiency in C and/or C++
• Understanding of data communications (e.g., 1553, RS422) and networking
• Practical experience in RT embedded development and debugging on target hardware
• Track record in developing C/C++ applications
