Fire Alarm Engineer

Overview

As a Fire Alarm Engineer, you will service, maintain, commission, and install fire alarm and emergency lighting systems for a diverse client base. You will work on open protocol systems and lead small-to-medium installation projects, delivering reliable fault-finding and top-tier customer service. The role involves travel across the UK and collaboration with other engineers to share knowledge and improve team capabilities. You will ensure work aligns with industry standards and company procedures, contributing to safe, compliant fire safety solutions.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, commission, and repair fire alarm and emergency lighting systems across multiple sites
• Install fire alarm systems to a high professional standard
• Commission open protocol systems (Advanced, Kentec, C-TEC)
• Plan and perform scheduled maintenance and reactive call-outs within designated area
• Interpret technical drawings and wiring schematics
• Diagnose and resolve faults efficiently
• Lead small to medium installation projects and guide installation teams
• Complete documentation accurately and timely
• Stay updated on relevant standards (BS 7671:2018, BS 5839-1, BS 5839-6) and company procedures
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain client relationships
• Support training and development of the wider engineering team
• Work safely, including during travel and overnight stays as required

Key requirements

• Proven experience servicing, maintaining, commissioning, and installing fire alarm systems
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Good understanding of electrical principles and wiring systems
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system documentation
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Full, clean UK driving licence
• Relevant certificates of competency
• Willingness to travel and occasionally work away from home
