Associate Cloud Security Engineer

Overview

As a Cloud Security Engineer at Nuix, you will help design and implement security controls across cloud platforms, safeguarding data and services. You’ll collaborate with the tech team to identify vulnerabilities, apply effective safeguards, and support secure SDLC practices. This growth-role offers hands-on work with cloud security in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. Your contributions will help Nuix protect critical data for clients while aligning with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement security controls for cloud platforms ensuring alignment with standards (ISO 27001, FedRAMP, NIST, IRAP, SOC 2)
• Conduct technical risk assessments of cloud infrastructure and applications
• Develop and maintain cyber security controls, standards, and procedures for cloud deployments with cross-functional teams
• Support third-party security audits and assessments
• Identify and assess vulnerabilities and threats impacting Nuix platforms
• Configure security controls across cloud services (AWS, Azure)
• Participate in incident response activities and implement corrective actions
• Monitor security logs and events to detect and respond to incidents
• Collaborate with development and operations to integrate security into SDLC/DevOps
• Manage security infrastructure including vulnerability tools, IDS/IPS, anti-malware

Key requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or related field, or relevant experience
• Up to 3 years in cybersecurity or IT with some cloud security exposure
• Experience as IT Security Engineer or similar role desirable
• Foundational knowledge of network and system security principles
• Hands-on exposure to AWS, Azure, and O365
• Working knowledge of security technologies (vulnerability tools, data protection, encryption, IAM, endpoint detection, incident management)
• Familiarity with ISO 27001, NIST, CSA
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities
• Entry-level or associate certifications preferred (AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals AZ-900, CompTIA Security+, pursuing AWS Security Specialty / CCSP)
• Scripting/automation experience (Python, PowerShell) is a plus
• Awareness of GDPR or EMEA data protection requirements is a plus
