Java Python Engineer – Investment Management

Overview

In this role you will help build a new trading architecture for model execution at a fast-growing hedge fund. You will design, develop, test, and deploy cloud-based microservices (AWS) and work closely with the engineering team to improve architecture and processes. You will support other business units, investigate data problems, and build tools to accelerate decision-making. The environment combines a tech-led culture with high performance and collaboration, offering exposure to trading infrastructure and market data flows. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape scalable infrastructure in a globally recognized, rigorous environment.

• onsite 3 days/week

Responsibilities

• Create a new trading architecture for model execution
• Design, develop, test, and deploy microservices on AWS
• Support other business units by investigating problems and building tools
• Work in a paired, highly collaborative environment to solve complex problems
• Collaborate with the full engineering team to continuously improve architecture and processes
• Prototype new concepts and features, leveraging the latest technology
• Drive automation across processes and workflows
• Review designs and code and engage in knowledge sharing

Key requirements

• 2:1 Computer Science, Maths, Physics or Chemistry degree from a UK/EU university (interpreted as Bachelor in Computer Science)
• Strong A Levels
• Java
• Python
• Ideally cloud architecture or cloud deployment experience
• Understanding of computing fundamentals, OOP, threading, concurrency and distributed systems
