Estates Compliance Manager

Overview

In this role, you will lead Estates compliance across multiple sites, ensuring adherence to NHS design standards, building regulations, and safety requirements. You’ll work with the Estates team and external bodies to maintain compliant systems and risk registers. You’ll chair compliance and safety groups and develop policies, training, and dashboards to monitor performance. This is a hands-on governance role focused on safety, regulatory alignment, and continuous improvement within a patient‑focused hospital group.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of Estates compliance program and oversee related works and services
• Manage and coordinate Authorising Engineers for Estates disciplines
• Maintain and report on compliance dashboards, derogations, and risk registers
• Chair and document Estates Compliance Policy, Safety Group, and related meetings
• Develop design, briefing, permit to work, and safety procedures in line with statutory requirements
• Ensure training, competency records, and contractor matrices are up to date
• Support NHSE Premises Assurance Model data collection and action planning
• Maintain leases register with critical dates and associated risks

Key requirements

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in engineering/building services, with significant post-qualification hospital experience
• Specialist knowledge of building regulations, CDM, HTM/HBN, DOH guidance, and HSE/CQC frameworks
• Experience liaising with external stakeholders and managing safe systems of work
• Capability to manage budgets and governance processes within an NHS estate setting
