Software Engineer I

Overview

As a Software you will shape scalable payments technologies used by global merchants. You’ll work with cross‑functional teams to deliver high-quality code that drives performance, resilience, and adoption of new tech. The role blends backend and full‑stack work across microservices, offering opportunities to mentor others and influence project priorities. Responsibilities

• Lead project priorities, deadlines and deliverables
• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and enhance software solutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management
• Define and design loosely coupled, scalable systems in a microservices architecture
• Mentor junior team members and support their technical development
• Stay up-to-date with and apply latest technologies across Checkout

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Proficiency in C# .NET, Java, or Go with backend or full‑stack experience
• Strong communication and stakeholder interaction skills
• Experience in agile environments and delivering high-quality code under deadlines
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and ability to work independently or in a team
• AI proficiency or curiosity to leverage new tech to boost productivity
• Payments or financial knowledge is a plus
