Role Summary
If you are passionate about publicly funded family law and want to deliver genuine access to justice, this role offers an immediate, high-volume pipeline of private law legal aid instructions. Backed by a firm with an established regional reputation and dedicated costs support, you will have the autonomy to manage meaningful cases and develop your advocacy skills, available on either a full-time or part-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an autonomous caseload of private law family legal aid matters, supporting clients through domestic abuse injunctions, private children disputes and financial arrangements following separation.
- Conduct your own advocacy and attend court hearings, giving you direct control over your cases and the opportunity to strengthen your courtroom experience.
- Administer legal aid processes from initial assessment through to conclusion, ensuring accurate applications, certificate management and adherence to Legal Aid Agency criteria.
- Collaborate with dedicated internal costs specialists to maintain prompt time recording, payment on account submissions and compliant final billing.
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with at least 1 year PQE handling family law matters.
- Demonstrable experience managing private law legal aid files with minimal supervision, including domestic violence and private children proceedings.
- Sound working knowledge of Legal Aid Agency processes, CCMS, compliance guidelines and Lexcel standards.
- Confident client-facing and advocacy skills, along with a full UK driving licence for travel between local offices.
