Project Lead Engineer (Primary/Secondary)

Overview

In this role you will coordinate the design team across disciplines and manage engineering programs for energy projects. You will support tendering and budgeting, ensuring safe, robust designs and compliant documentation. You will lead design and hazard reviews, assess risks, and collaborate with customers to shape and deliver improvements. Responsibilities

• Coordinate the design team across all disciplines
• Liaise with project management on engineering budgets and forecast cost to complete with justifications for changes
• Manage the programme and interface with planning engineers for design
• Provide forecasts for completion and resource planning
• Approve documentation per contractual requirements
• Coordinate and chair design reviews and hazard reviews
• Identify and manage cross-functional risks and mitigate them
• Support Project Manager in risk/opportunity assessments and action implementation
• Undertake Principal Designer Representative on projects
• Collaborate with customers to shape and deliver solutions and drive improvements
• Oversee subcontracts and manage subcontractors with supply chain involvement

Key requirements

• 5 years electricity supply industry experience
• Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (400kV to 11 kV)
• HNC/HND in electrical engineering or equivalent
• Good teamwork, analytical and communication skills
• Capable of working to tight time scales
• Commercial acumen
• Understanding/Knowledge of Distribution Network Operator / National Grid standards and drawing practices
