The Role:

A leading Investment Bank is looking for a Lead Engineer to help shape the next generation of front-office trading technology. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant influence over architecture, platform direction and the delivery of business-critical applications used by trading teams.

You’ll work on modernising a large-scale technology estate, building high-performance systems and partnering closely with users to solve complex workflow and data challenges.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Designing and building scalable, real-time applications that support trading and market-facing workflows
• Leading technical design across backend services, APIs and user-facing applications
• Working directly with stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technology solutions
• Driving adoption of modern engineering practices, testing approaches and development standards
• Contributing to architectural decisions across distributed, event-driven platforms
• Helping evolve platform capabilities, tooling and deployment processes

What You Bring:

• Strong software engineering background with deep expertise in modern Java development
• Experience building low-latency, real-time systems in complex enterprise environments
• Good understanding of distributed systems, messaging technologies and event-driven architecture
• Exposure to modern front-end development and full-stack solution design
• Experience designing APIs, working with relational databases and deploying applications into containerised environments
• A track record of improving engineering standards, delivery quality and platform scalability

The Package:

• £120,000 – £150,000 base salary + Performance-related bonus
