We are looking for an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join a dynamic automation and robotics team. You will play a key role in designing, programming, and commissioning control systems for bespoke machinery, from initial concept through to final build.This is a hands-on, project-driven role where you will create control solutions for robotic and automated systems, including PLC programming, HMI development, and integration with mechanical and electrical systems. You will work closely with the design and assembly teams to deliver reliable, efficient, and innovative automation solutions.
Typical projects include:Fully automated assembly and production machinesRobotic pick-and-place systemsVision inspection and automated quality control systemsComplex material handling and manufacturing cells across industries such as pharmaceutical, automotive, and general engineeringKey ResponsibilitiesDevelop PLC programs and configure HMIs for bespoke automation systemsDesign control strategies and sequences for robotic and automated machineryIntegrate control systems with mechanical and electrical componentsTest, troubleshoot, and commission systems to ensure safe and reliable operationInterpret and review customer specifications to deliver cost-effective, innovative solutionsCollaborate closely with design, build, and assembly teams to meet project timelines
Key Skills & ExperienceProven experience in control systems engineering for industrial machinery or automation (BEng, HND, HNC, or apprenticeship route)Strong PLC programming skills (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar)HMI design and configuration experienceExperience integrating sensors, actuators, and robotic systems into automated processesAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skillsHands-on, practical approach to commissioning and troubleshooting
