Overview

As Head of Pricing & Legal Project Management (Europe), you lead pricing, budgeting, and matter management strategy across Europe to improve profitability and client value. You will partner with practice and office leaders to design fee arrangements and value-based structures, while shaping the firm’s governance and LPM framework. You’ll drive cross-functional collaboration, monitor market trends, and build tools and playbooks that scale across Europe. This role offers strategic influence, regional leadership, and the chance to strengthen the firm’s competitive position in the European market.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior pricing and legal project management lead for Europe, providing strategic commercial, budgeting, and matter management advice to partners and matter teams across practices, offices, and jurisdictions
  • Develop creative, commercially viable fee arrangements and value-based structures (e.g., fixed/capped fees, blended rates, collars, phased budgets)
  • Advise on pricing and LPM strategy for RFPs, pitches, rate negotiations, panel reviews, reverse auctions, and client-driven procurement
  • Partner with clients to understand objectives, cost pressures, pricing preferences, staffing, and reporting needs
  • Prepare and review pricing models, matter budgets, profitability analyses, scenario models, staffing plans, and financial impact assessments
  • Design and implement the Firm’s LPM framework including technology, processes, and post-matter reviews
  • Lead the European approach to matter budgeting, scope management, and lifecycle support with risk tracking and change management
  • Support regionally aligned pricing and LPM governance and policies that reflect European market dynamics
  • Collaborate with Business Development, Finance, Rates, Billing, IT and Practice Leadership to streamline workflows and improve responsiveness
  • Build tools, templates, dashboards, and knowledge resources to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality of advice across Europe
  • Monitor market pricing trends, client procurement dynamics, competitor approaches, and AI impacts on delivery and pricing
  • Provide training and coaching on pricing strategy, law firm economics, budgeting, profitability, scope management, and project planning
  • Manage, mentor, and develop European pricing and LPM resources to foster a high-performing culture

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, accounting, or a related discipline
  • Significant pricing, financial, or LPM experience in a large international law firm or professional services
  • Strong understanding of law firm economics, profitability, billing structures, and discounting
  • Excellent financial modeling, analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, with ability to draft persuasive materials and client-facing content
  • Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority work streams under tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across practices, offices, and cultures
  • Experience leading or mentoring pricing analysts and LPM professionals
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Power BI; familiarity with Aderant, pricing/matter management technologies, SQL, and AI technologies preferred
  • Knowledge of the European legal market and client buying behavior preferred
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
