Senior Cost Manager (Water and Environment Infrastructure)

Overview

As a Senior Cost Manager at AECOM, you will lead cost management for major water and environment infrastructure projects across the Southwest and South Coast. You’ll work within Buildings & Places Infrastructure, collaborating with clients to deliver accurate, value-driven cost advice through the project lifecycle. You’ll help grow the business, mentor junior staff, and uphold high professional standards. This role combines technical excellence with client relationships to shape resilient, community-enhancing projects.

Responsibilities

• Deliver full lifecycle cost management from inception to completion, collaborating with peers, Directors, and clients
• Prepare feasibility estimates and cost plans with minimal supervision
• Procure contracts, draft tender documentation, and manage value engineering
• Maintain commercial awareness, manage fees, risks, disputes, and post-contract cost reporting
• Contribute to final accounts and ensure high professional standards with clients and contacts
• Support internal team development and mentor junior staff on complex projects
• Identify marketing opportunities and assist Directors in business development
• Strengthen client relationships and promote the firm’s premium services

Key requirements

• MRICS accreditation or working towards it
• Experience in cost management/quantity surveying on large-scale infrastructure
• Strong knowledge of NEC4 contracts, especially PSC and ECC
• In-house/infrastructure sector experience, notably water/environment
• Experience working in integrated, multi-organisational teams
• Client-side or colocated/secondment experience beneficial
