Overview

As a Pixel IMS/Telephony/NAS Firmware Engineer, you will develop, customize and test Android/Modem software for IMS, NAS and access stratum, ensuring carrier features meet performance and quality targets. You collaborate across Telephony, IMS, NAS, AS, Android, TPM/TAM and Hardware teams to prioritize and resolve issues, using AI-driven automation to accelerate workflows. You will lead carrier feature development, testing, and certification, driving faster, higher-quality Pixel software. This role offers hands-on debugging, performance analysis and cross-functional impact on a flagship mobile platform.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, customize and plan tests for Android/Modem software in IMS/Telephony/NAS domains
  • Analyze IMS, NAS and AS protocol functional and performance issues
  • Collaborate with cross-layer and cross-organization teams for issue prioritization and resolution
  • Lead testing for carriers regionally, including functional and performance regression
  • Debug, analyze and work with IMS/NAS/AS teams to resolve issues
  • Develop AI-driven automation to automate tasks and improve processes
  • Generate ideas and innovations to improve software and engineering processes
  • Own project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables across the full software lifecycle

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience with IMS protocols and 3GPP NAS
  • 5 years of experience with LTE or 5G NR
  • Preferred: Android/Modem software development/testing experience
  • Preferred: problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Preferred: programming, scripting or automation using AI
  • Familiarity with IMS protocol standards, VoLTE, VoNR, VoWifi
