M365 Architecture & Engineering Lead

Overview

As Lead M365 Architect, you steer the platform design and engineering roadmaps for Microsoft 365 at enterprise scale. You will guide a team of architects and engineers, oversee complex migrations, and ensure security, resilience, and standards are baked in. You act as the design authority for partner work, aligning designs with WPP security and governance requirements. This role sits at the intersection of technology and business value, enabling creative transformation for clients. You’ll work cross-functionally to shape scalable, secure, and cost-aware M365 solutions at a global scale.

Responsibilities

• Own the M365 architecture, standards and engineering roadmap
• Lead and manage the M365 architects and senior engineers
• Design and assure complex M365 change and migrations
• Assure third party support designs and changes meet WPP standards
• Embed security, resilience and compliance by design
• Provide senior technical escalation above the run layer
• Set the architecture, patterns and guardrails for the domain
• Assure partner-delivered designs meet security, resilience and standards
• Act as design authority and approval gate for partner architecture decisions

Key requirements

• Expert M365 architecture and engineering (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power App/Automate, Power BI/Fabric, Defender, Purview)
• Working knowledge of enterprise identity platforms (Okta) with CA, authentication flows, hybrid connectivity, Zero Trust principles
• Large-scale tenant migration and integration design (100,000+ seat) with ShareGate or native tools
• Microsoft Graph API, PowerShell scripting and enterprise automation
• Proven ability to produce architecture docs (HLD/LLD/ADRs) and reference architectures
• Vendor governance experience with large MSPs and SLAs
• Microsoft 365 certifications (mandatory: Enterprise Administrator Expert; others desirable)
• Architecture framework qualification (TOGAF 9/10) advantageous
• Relevant enterprise-scale architecture experience
• Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
