We are now looking to appoint an experienced HR Advisor to join our HR team, where we cover 4 sites across the UK. You will be expected to travel to our Bridgwater site on a weekly basis, ad hoc, there and back in one day. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable and commercially aware HR professional who enjoys variety, values strong working relationships and wants to play a key role in delivering a high-quality HR service across the business.
The opportunity
As HR Advisor, you will support the business across the full employee lifecycle, providing practical HR advice, guidance and administration to managers and employees. The role offers a broad and varied remit covering recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, reporting, training coordination and general HR operations.
This is not a heavily ER-focused role. While employee relations experience is important, the position is much broader, with a strong emphasis on supporting managers, maintaining HR processes and delivering an excellent people service.
Key responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Providing day-to-day HR advice and guidance to managers and employees
- Supporting employee relations matters including grievances, disciplinaries, investigations, flexible working requests, maternity and paternity processes
- Managing starters, leavers and employee changes
- Preparing contracts of employment and ad-hoc HR correspondence
- Supporting the full recruitment lifecycle, including CV sifting, interview coordination and candidate communication
- Supporting induction and onboarding activity
- Monitoring probationary periods and following up with managers
- Producing monthly HR reports and maintaining accurate HR records
- Supporting training coordination, including compliance training and annual training activity
- Assisting with occupational health referrals, pension review bookings and employee benefits administration
- Supporting apprenticeship activity, work experience placements and wider HR projects
About you
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in an HR Advisor or similar generalist HR role
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Experience of supporting a broad range of employee relations matters
- Experience across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding and contractual changes
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A professional, approachable and pragmatic style
- Confidence working with HR systems, reporting and Microsoft Office
Experience within manufacturing, engineering or a multi-site environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
