We’re looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our growing Capital Projects team, supporting the delivery of projects for a prestigious government client.
This is a great opportunity for a commercially focused QS who enjoys being involved across the full project lifecycle. You’ll work closely with Project Managers and key stakeholders, taking ownership of cost and commercial activity across a varied portfolio of projects operating under NEC4 contracts.
You don’t need to come from a Facilities Management background. We’re keen to hear from Quantity Surveyors with relevant experience gained within construction, M&E/building services, refurbishment, fit-out or FM projects who are interested in bringing their commercial expertise into a diverse Capital Projects environment.
You’ll have the opportunity to work across multiple projects, providing commercial insight and challenge while helping us deliver successful outcomes for both ISS and our customer.
What you’ll be doing
- Preparing and managing project budgets, forecasts and cost plans
- Monitoring project financial performance, including costs, revenue and P&L
- Administering NEC4 contracts and supporting effective contract management
- Managing variations, compensation events, change control and commercial risk
- Preparing tender documentation and evaluating supplier and subcontractor submissions
- Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve commercial value
- Reviewing applications for payment and preparing interim and final valuations
- Supporting procurement and supply chain activity
- Identifying commercial and contractual risks and recommending appropriate actions
- Working closely with Project Managers, clients, suppliers and senior stakeholders, providing commercial advice throughout project delivery
- Supporting effective commercial governance and helping to continually improve the way projects are delivered
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, M&E/building services, refurbishment, fit-out, FM or a similar projects environment
- Good working knowledge and practical experience of NEC4 contracts
- A Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Experience of cost management, tendering and procurement
- Experience managing applications for payment, valuations, variations/change and commercial risk
- The commercial ability to assess and price contractual changes
- Experience supporting or managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Good analytical and negotiation skills, with the confidence to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and relevant project or cost-management systems
- A full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel when required
Experience working across larger project portfolios or within Government, public sector, corporate or education environments would be beneficial, but isn’t essential.
