Night Operations Manager
West Midlands | up to £55k + Package | Monday–Friday
A senior opportunity within a growing logistics operation
Phoenix Talent Network is working on behalf of a growing logistics business to appoint an experienced Night Operations Manager.
This is an opportunity for a hands-on operational leader who can take ownership of a busy night operation, lead people effectively and ensure that safety, productivity and service standards are consistently maintained.
The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating operational activity across transport, yard, and warehouse functions, and will be responsible for maintaining an efficient, well-controlled working environment.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing night-shift operational teams.
- Coordinating vehicle movements, yard activity and loading operations.
- Managing resource allocation across people, equipment and operational areas.
- Supporting inbound, outbound and cross-dock activity.
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety, compliance and operational discipline.
- Monitoring productivity, KPIs and service performance.
- Identifying operational issues and implementing practical improvements.
- Working collaboratively with daytime management and wider business functions.
- Making effective decisions in a fast-paced environment with a high level of autonomy.
Relevant Experience
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following environments:
- Transport and logistics operations.
- Night-time depot or hub operations.
- Cross-dock and trunking environments.
- Yard management and HGV-heavy operations.
- Large-scale warehouse operations involving significant MHE and vehicle movements.
You should have:
- Proven operational leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety and compliance.
- Experience managing people, performance and resources.
- The ability to prioritise and make decisions under pressure.
- A practical, visible and hands-on leadership style.
- A continuous improvement mindset and the confidence to take ownership.
Package & Working Pattern
- Salary: up to £55,000
- Working pattern: Monday–Friday, 45 hours per week.
- Location: West Midlands.
- Environment: High-volume night logistics operation.
