Senior Manager, Data Engineering

Overview

In this role you will own and extend a config-driven data platform that ingests, transforms, and delivers paid media data across 26+ ad platforms. You will build and maintain ELT pipelines from Cloud Function ingestion to dbt-powered transformations in BigQuery, ensuring data integrity and scalability. You’ll contribute to a mature mono-repo platform and promote DataOps best practices across the team. This is a chance to shape data solutions within a high-profile, global agency environment.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end data pipeline from ingestion to analysis-ready tables in BigQuery
• Develop and maintain dbt macros, Jinja templates, and YAML definitions to auto-generate models across 26+ ad platforms
• Manage and improve GCP infrastructure via Terraform (BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud Scheduler, Pub/Sub)
• Build and maintain Python CLI tooling for onboarding, config compilation, and pipeline execution
• Mentor data engineers and promote best practices in DataOps, code review, testing, and documentation
• Automate processes to improve data delivery and scalability, and redesign infrastructure as needed
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and BI teams to maximise value from data models
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and testing, plus documentation practices

Key requirements

• Strong experience with dbt (macros, Jinja, incremental models, seeds, testing, packages)
• Python 3.11+ for CLI tools and data processing
• SQL proficiency, BigQuery dialect preferred
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud Scheduler)
• Terraform for IaC and cloud resource provisioning
• Strong data modelling knowledge (star schema, dim/fact, slowly changing dimensions)
• Git and CI/CD experience (GitHub, Cloud Build or similar)
• Ability to translate business needs into technical specs
