Staff Software Security Engineer

Overview

In this role you will fortify Anthropic’s security for large-scale AI clusters, partnering with research, product, and security teams. You will design secure-by-design workflows and CI/CD pipelines, and implement robust cloud security across multi-cloud environments. You will apply threat modeling to complex systems, operate secure services with IaC and GitOps, and mentor engineers to raise the security bar. Responsibilities

• Build security for large-scale AI clusters with robust cloud architecture (IAM, network segmentation, encryption)
• Design secure-by-design workflows and secure CI/CD pipelines across services
• Operate secure, high-reliability services using Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps
• Perform threat modeling and risk assessment for multi-cloud environments
• Mentor engineers and contribute to the growth of the Security team

Key requirements

• 5-15+ years of software engineering experience with critical systems at scale
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent
• Strong programming skills in Python or systems languages (Go, Rust, C/C++)
• Experience managing infrastructure at scale with DevOps and cloud automation
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional security initiatives
• Outstanding communication skills; ability to convey complex concepts across organizational levels
• Strong systems thinking; ability to mitigate risks in complex environments
• Low ego, high empathy engineer; experience supporting fast-paced startup teams
• Passion for AI safety and alignment, and interest in interpretability and human-centric AI
