Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In this role you will shape and deliver the site’s mechanical asset strategy to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation. You will collaborate with the Section Head to optimise asset performance, manage risks, and drive maintenance improvements aligned with the business. You will provide expert technical support to the maintenance team and develop practical solutions for complex engineering challenges to maximise plant reliability and value. Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and deliver refurbishment, maintenance, and replacement projects within budget
• Manage contractors and allocate resources to meet targets and KPIs
• Assess, negotiate, and oversee contracts as Technical Officer with growing autonomy
• Provide expert technical advice and develop innovative solutions within the plant specialty
• Conduct residual life assessments and advise on risk management and plant integrity
• Investigate and resolve plant-level performance issues using modern inspection and maintenance techniques
• Support the Section Head in developing and reviewing asset management and maintenance strategy

Key requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering or related discipline
• Proven experience in plant engineering, asset management, or industrial maintenance
• Strong project management skills with ability to handle multidisciplinary work
• Solid understanding of health, safety, environmental, and quality management requirements
• Experience managing contractors within defined budgets and timelines
• Analytical mindset to diagnose complex plant problems and propose solutions
