Financial Crime Data Analyst

Overview

In this role you will help shape data-led approaches to prevent and detect financial crime, supporting supervisory decisions across the FCA. You will turn complex data into actionable insights and collaborate with data and supervision teams to strengthen financial crime capabilities. The role sits within the Risk, Data and Strategy Team, contributing to safer markets and better regulatory outcomes. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position that combines analytics with stakeholder engagement and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Shape innovative data-led approaches to prevent and detect financial crime
• Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for supervisory decisions
• Collaborate with Data and Supervision teams on impactful projects
• Develop specialist data analytics skills in a high-profile regulatory environment

Key requirements

• Experience using Excel, SQL or another data analytics tool to interrogate and manipulate data
• Experience analysing data to answer defined questions and draw practical conclusions
• Experience presenting analysis clearly in written, visual, or verbal formats
• Essential: effective communication to explain data insights to technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to deliver high-quality work to tight deadlines with initiative and judgement
• Strong stakeholder management to build relationships and engage with senior stakeholders
• Ability to prioritise multiple pieces of work with minimal supervision
• Collaborative and forward-thinking approach with curiosity and problem-solving
• Confidence in making informed judgements and learning from experience
• Experience creating data visualization dashboards (e.g. Tableau) and analytical programming (Python, R, or advanced SQL) and knowledge of financial services or regulation (desirable)
