Overview

In this role you will design and develop RF/mmWave subsystems and modules to meet performance, cost, and quality targets, supporting the next generation of communications and defence technologies. You will work within a Cambridge team to tackle high-frequency challenges, from circuit design to integration with mechanical and PCB teams. You will contribute to product introductions and design reviews, driving verifiable and documented solutions with clear test and compliance traceability. This role offers meaningful impact on real-world, mission-critical systems in a fast-growing center.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop RF/mmWave sub-circuits, modules and systems to meet targets
  • Specification, simulation, and design realisation of filters, couplers, transmission lines, and frequency synthesizers
  • Select and evaluate ICs/MMICs, liaising with vendors
  • Collaborate with mechanical and PCB engineers on high-frequency layouts and electromechanical integration
  • Perform line-up, tolerance, and yield analyses to ensure manufacturability
  • Deliver fully verified and documented designs, including test specifications, compliance matrices, and peer-reviewed design records
  • Support product introduction, troubleshooting and defining diagnostic procedures
  • Actively contribute to technical discussions and design reviews

Key requirements

  • Degree (or equivalent) in RF, Communications, or a related engineering discipline
  • Proven experience in RF/microwave circuit and system design
  • Proficiency with RF design tools such as ADS, Microwave Office, CST, or EMPro
  • Solid understanding of transceiver architectures and RF product design principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving approach to design verification
