Industrial Placement – Building Services Mechanical Engineer – London

Overview

Join Arup’s Building Services internship to help shape low-energy, low-carbon HVAC design for complex projects. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to develop concept designs and use digital tools to optimise solutions. You’ll model systems in Revit and perform thermal and compliance analyses to support decarbonisation strategies. This placement offers hands-on experience in sustainable design, site visits, and reporting, within a globally respected sustainability-focused practice.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC design concepts focusing on low energy and low carbon solutions
• Use software and digital tools to analyse and optimise designs
• Create 3D models of systems in Revit
• Perform thermal and Building Regulation compliance modelling (IESVE or similar)
• Prepare mark-ups and collaborate with design team on holistic project design
• Contribute to decarbonisation strategies for operational and embodied carbon
• Conduct site visits and prepare reports, presentations, and site reports
• Analyze new technologies and their application to sustainable design

Key requirements

• Masters (or pursuing) in Mechanical, Architectural, or Building Services Engineering
• Studying or completed an IMechE, CIBSE, or Engineering Council accredited course
• strong foundational degrees in related engineering fields considered
