Lead Engineer – Compute Service, Senior Vice President

Overview

You will lead the XiP Compute Service (XCS2) team to design, build, and scale Citi’s next-generation enterprise compute platform. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic direction to deliver a high-performance, secure, and scalable engine that handles enormous workloads. You’ll collaborate with tech and business stakeholders to align capabilities with goals and drive a Greenfield build that doubles the customer base. This is an opportunity to shape critical risk calculation infrastructure used across Citi.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term direction for XiP and advance the next-gen XiP Compute Service to be faster and more resource-efficient at scale
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical specs and platform capabilities
• Lead daily Agile/Scrum ceremonies, manage backlogs, and ensure timely delivery
• Provide hands-on technical leadership: architecture guidance, coding standards, code reviews, and quality control
• Mentor engineers, allocate work, and foster a collaborative, growth-oriented team culture
• Contribute to the design and implementation of the next version of Citi’s Risk Calculation Engine
• Maintain performance of large-scale parallel compute while enabling new workloads

Key requirements

• Professional software development experience with Java or Python
• Experience with Spring, Spring Boot, Quarkus (Java) or Flask, FastAPI, Pydantic (Python)
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems
• Experience with RESTful API design
• Exposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra) a plus
• Experience with unit/integration testing and test automation
• Experience with Agile/Scrum environments and CI/CD practices
