Overview

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer at Stantec, you lead the technical delivery of mechanical projects across feasibility to commissioning within the UK water sector. You will work with multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver practical, sustainable solutions that meet high standards of safety and quality. The role emphasizes mentoring, governance, and supporting bid and planning activities while contributing to AMP8-driven water infrastructure across the South of England. Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery across full project lifecycle (feasibility to commissioning)
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients and contractors
• Develop practical, sustainable mechanical engineering solutions for water and wastewater facilities
• Ensure designs meet quality, safety and sustainability standards
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical governance
• Support project planning and client engagement
• Deliver innovative engineering solutions and contribute to bids
• Maintain strong client relationships and uphold technical excellence

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or actively working towards
• Experience delivering detailed mechanical design within the UK water sector
• Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment infrastructure, pumping stations and mechanical systems
• Experience leading technical project delivery and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience mentoring and developing junior engineers
