Overview

In this role you will transform traffic, usage and discovery data into signals that drive content value across the web. You will operate at the crossroads of content discoverability, protection and data intelligence, partnering with product, platform, analytics and security teams. You’ll quantify how content is found, accessed and used on search engines, discovery services and external channels, while guarding against automated scraping and unauthorized extraction. Your work shapes strategy, prioritises interventions and measures outcomes to accelerate real‑world research impact.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze how Springer Nature content is discovered across external channels (search engines, discovery services, aggregators, AI tools, platforms).
  • Develop and maintain a framework of discoverability metrics, signals and KPIs for distribution and discovery effectiveness.
  • Identify external signals of successful discovery, engagement and conversion to Springer Nature properties.
  • Assess impact of metadata quality, indexing, platform integrations and content syndication on discoverability.
  • Monitor referral patterns, search visibility and external platform behaviour to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Balance reach with preserving platform traffic, engagement and commercial value; provide surface and protection recommendations.
  • Build analytical models linking discoverability, consumption, platform traffic and business outcomes.
  • Analyse traffic, WAF data and behavior to detect scraping and unauthorized extraction; evolve detection signals.

Key requirements

  • Strong SQL skills with BigQuery and experience on large-scale datasets.
  • Strong analytical and statistical ability to identify patterns and trends.
  • Experience analysing web traffic, referral data and user journeys.
  • Understanding of content discoverability or ability to rapidly develop expertise.
  • Interest in bot detection, fingerprinting and content protection challenges.
  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources to form coherent user/content usage insights.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate data into actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
