Cyber Security Analyst

Overview

As a Cyber Security analyst in the CSOC, you drive second-line security analytics and incident response across the NHS England network. You act as a Tier 2 XDR analyst, mentor Tier 1 analysts, and help enhance threat detection and security posture. You stay current with evolving cyber threats and leverage SIEM/XDR tools to identify patterns and support investigations. Your work supports safe care and public trust by strengthening cyber resilience across the NHS. This role offers national scope and cross-organisational impact within a mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Tier 2 Extended Detection and Response analyst within Security Operations
• Mentor and guide Tier 1 analysts and escalate incidents as needed
• Research and evaluate emerging cyber threats and technology developments
• Utilise SIEM and XDR platforms to detect threat patterns and vulnerabilities
• Contribute to investigations of triggered security alerts and support NHS organizations
• Assist with refining Use Cases and improving overall security posture
• Provide technical support to NHS organisations during XDR incidents

Key requirements

• Experience in a SOC environment or equivalent
• Knowledge of intrusion detection and prevention techniques
• Ability to detect, monitor, analyse and prevent digital threats
